Alpiq Csepel Business

Alpiq Csepel Business is owned by one of Europe's leaders in energy trading, the Swiss-based Alpiq. The Group comprises two companies based in Budapest, Hungary: Alpiq Csepel Kft., the owner of the Csepel II CCGT power station and Alpiq Csepeli Szolgáltató Kft., which performs the operation and maintenance tasks at Csepel II Station.

Csepel II., a modern, efficient and environmentally friendly combined-cycle gas turbine power plant is located on the area of the former Csepel Works, in South Budapest. Csepel II. Station, commissioned on 1st November 2000, was the first power station in Hungary built on a business basis using private capital. The plant can meet nearly 7 per cent of the electricity need of Hungary and providing up to 403 MW power capacity for the national grid.

Heat is sold to domestic and industrial heat consumers. District heating supplies about 19 500 flats in the southern districts of Budapest.
